How do I get to the Austin office?
If you are headed north on Research Blvd (183) you exit McNeil/Spicewood Springs Rd and take the turnaround under 183. The office will be on your right about 100 yards up in the North Brooke Shopping Center. We are in the same complex as Mongolian Grill and we are located between Quik Print Copy Center and B.B. Rover’s.

Is there an age limit?
We do not have an age limit (you cannot be too old) for the classes but in order to be enrolled for the Nurse Aide Training Program you must be at least 16, and for the Phlebotomy and Pharmacy Technician seminar you must be at least 18 years of age.
Is there funding available?

What is the class schedule?
The class schedule is posted on our website for each class but we have classes starting constantly so you can always find one that will fit into your schedule.
Can I tour the facility before I register?
We do not require that you tour the facility prior to registering but we do recommend you tour our facility prior to the first day of your class.
Is your school/programs accredited?
Yes and No. We are approved by the Texas Workforce Commission, and our Phlebotomy program is nationally accredited by the National HealthCareers Association (NHA). Our other programs are approved by the Texas Workforce Commission, but not accredited.
Is this a scam?
No, Express Training Services has been in Florida since 2004 and has recently expanded into Texas. Express Training Services has helped over 8,000 students begin their careers.
If I take your 80hr Phlebotomy Course and your 75hr Nurse Aide Course, will I receive a discount?
We get questions like this all the time. Officially, there is no discount. Each class is paid for individually. However, we are open to any suggestions. Give us a call, we can talk about it, and something will be worked out.
Nurse Aide
What is the class schedule?
The class schedule is posted on our website for each class but we have classes starting constantly so you can always find one that will fit into your schedule.
Do I have to have a high school diploma/GED for your classes?
For our Nurse Aide class you only need an 8th grade education.
Do I have to be CPR and First Aid certified for the Nurse Aide class?
Yes, before you can go into the Skill Nursing Facilities for your clinicals, we require you to have your CPR and First Aid certification. We do offer a CPR/First Aid class at our location for $70 as an option.
Do I have to get my TB test before I can begin class?
Because you will be spending 24 hours in a Skilled Nursing Facility with actual residents, you are required to test negative for TB. Texas MedClinic comes to the first or second class of each session and administers these tests. If you cannot show proof that you have received your TB test within the past 6 months then you must be tested. The cost of the basic TB test is $30 and will be done at the office.
Where will I take my state exam?
For the Nurse Aide testing you will be at the Skilled Nursing Facility where you had your clinicals
When will I take Nurse Aide test?
We try to schedule the test about 13-15 business days after the completion of class.
How long will it take to get my certification/license after I test?
For the Nurse Aide testing, you will receive a paper saying that you passed your certification exam on the day of testing and you will then receive your certificate in the mail.
What kind of background issues would prevent me from taking the class or getting my license?
According to the DADS web site, “If there's a finding of an alleged act of abuse, neglect, or misappropriation, the nurse aide may request both an informal reconsideration and a formal hearing before the finding is placed on the registry.” Contact DADS at 1-800-452-3934 if you have any questions about this.
Do I need to buy anything for the class?
No, we provide everything. You may want to bring something to take notes with, like a notebook and pen, but that’s your option.
What do I wear for the class?
The first day, whatever you like (within reason). You must wear closed-toed shoes every day though. You will need to wear scrubs (they are included in the price) every day afterwards, and for your exam.
What does CNA stand for and what do they do?
CNA is certified nurse aide. They work in nursing homes, hospitals and home health settings. A Nurse Aide’s basic duties usually involve activities of daily living, or ADLs. Helping a person get dressed, eat, brush teeth are some (but not all) examples of ADLS.
I have a CNA in another state. Can I transfer it to Texas?
It depends, but the answer is usually yes. Call DADS at 1-800-452-3934 or go on their web site http://www.dads.state.tx.us/providers/nf/credentialing/nar/faq_nar.html for information on this. Your license or certificate must still be valid in the other state in order to transfer.
I’d like to get my CNA with Express Training, but plan on moving to another state. Will it transfer?
It depends, but the answer is usually yes. You would have to call the Board of Nursing from the new state to find out.
I plan on going to nursing school. Will this class help me?
Having experience as a Nurse Aide or as any health care worker is always a plus before starting nursing school. For most nursing schools, having a valid Nurse Aide certificate will give you additional points to gain admittance. Each nursing school is different though, and you should do research before taking an Express Training class.
How long are the Nurse Aide classes?
For the 75-hour training program, there are 2 ways you can take it. There’s a 2-week class which goes M-F, 8 am-4 pm each day. There’s a 3-week class which is M-Th, 4 pm-10 pm each night. Check the schedule or call for more information.
How do I sign up?
For any class, a deposit will hold a seat, with the rest of the money due the first day of class. The deposit is $100. You can do this on-line, you can go by our office, or you can do it over the phone with a Master Card or Visa.
I put a deposit down for a class, and I can’t make it. What happens to my deposit?

Can I come in and practice after my class and before my exam?
Yes, we want you to do so. Just talk to your instructor about times.
Can I miss a class?
Yes, you can miss 1 class. It is a terrible idea to do that though, and if you plan on missing a class, you shouldn’t enroll.
The class starts at 8 am. Can I get there 15 minutes late?
No. If you are late 3 times, you will be removed from the class and not allowed to return. If you plan on being later, do not take the class.
What are the requirements to sign up for the Nurse Aide class?
Most importantly, you must have the $100 deposit. Additionally:
- Be able to pass the state required background checks
- Provide a valid government-issued photo identification card
- Provide a valid Social Security Card
- Have no physical or mental limitations precluding the student from taking the Nurse Aide state certification examination or working as a Nurse Aide
- Have reliable transportation to and from the school/office/clinical site
- A negative TB test
- Proof of CPR and First Aid certification (on or before program completion date)
- Be at least 18 years of age or if 16-17 years old, must provide written permission from a parent or legal guardian in order to enroll.
- Not be listed as unemployable on the Employee Misconduct Registry (EMR) and not be convicted of a criminal offense as listed in the Texas Health and Safety Code 250.006
- Must provide evidence of completion of at least an 8th grade education
How long does Nurse Aide certification last?
It either expires in 2 or 3 years, but can be renewed fairly easily. We’ll teach you how to do that in the class.
Is there job placement?
Yes. We’ll tell you where to look, and help you as needed.
CPR
What is the class schedule?

What kind of CPR do you offer?
It’s called BLS for Health Care Providers. This is the class you need for any entry level health care job, and for virtually any other job or school requirement as well. It’s through the American Heart Association (AHA).
Is First Aid included with CPR?
They are 2 separate classes, with 2 separate fees, but you can take both on the same day. The First Aid class is an additional $20.
What happens if I’m late for a CPR or First Aid class?
If you are later, even by 1 minute, without a documentable excuse, you lose your money and must pay to take the class again. If you do have a documentable excuse, you will be rescheduled for the next class.
Phlebotomy

You will receive your certification in the mail in approximately 2-3 weeks after your exam from the testing company.
What are the requirements for the 8hr/80hr Phlebotomy class?
For the 8 hour Phlebotomy you must have one of the following:
- Have current medical licensure (RN, LPN, MD, Dentist, ARNP, etc.)
- Have current medical certification (Nurse Aide, CMA, HHA, Dental Assistant, Dental Hygienist, Pharmacy Tech, EMT, etc.)
- Be currently enrolled in a school or training program where this will supplement your knowledge in the field (LPN/RN School, Physician’s Assistant School, Nurse Aide class, etc.).
For the 80 hour Phlebotomy class you must be at least 18years of age and have either your High School Diploma or GED, and be scheduled for or have taken a CPR/First Aid class.
What is the difference between the 8hr and the 80hr Phlebotomy?
The 8 hour Phlebotomy class is meant to introduce the student to the theory of phlebotomy, as well as give the opportunity for hands-on experiences in blood draws.
The 80 hour Phlebotomy class is more in depth and at the end of the class you will take the Certification Exam.
Are you planning on offering the 80hr Phlebotomy course anywhere else in Texas?
We are planning on expanding our classes in the future and will have the updated locations and options posted on our website as soon as we do.
Will I be certified after the 8-hour seminar?
No. You will receive a certificate of completion only. If you want to be certified, take the 80 hour class.
What’s the difference between the 8-hour seminar and the 80-hour exam prep class?
The 8-hour seminar is designed as an intro to phlebotomy. You do get live sticks and learn some of the theory, but it’s only 8 hours. You will not be certified after this seminar. The 80-hour class ends in you taking a nationally accredited exam. If you pass, you will be nationally certified, and can qualify for almost any phlebotomy position. In the 80-hour class you will get a minimum of 25 venipunctures and 10 capillary sticks.
Can I find a job with this?
The goal of the 8-hour seminar is not to gain employment. It’s just for knowledge and in-service hours. However, many of the past students have found jobs with this seminar. With the 80-hour class, you will be nationally certified, so yes you will be able to find a job.
Do we get any live sticks during the 8-hour seminar?
Absolutely, you get several. It’s only 8 hours, so you won’t get a lot.
Whom do we practice on?
There’s a fake arm (his name is Armando). You also get to stick fellow students.
I don’t want anyone touching me. Do I have to get stuck?
In the 8-hour seminar, not if you don’t want to. Just remember though, if no one wants to get stuck, no one will get live sticks. In the 80-hour class, you will get stuck, and get to stick others.
Do I have to have a medical background to take this seminar?
Yes, for the 8-hour seminar. No for the 80-hour training program. Call us if you don’t understand this requirement, or to see if you qualify.

Pharmacy Tech

Where will I take my state exam?
For Pharmacy Technician testing, we will register you to be able to arrange when and where you will be taking your exam.
How long will it take to get my certification/license after I test?
For Pharmacy Tech, you will receive your certification in the mail in approximately 2-3 weeks after your exam from the testing company.
Why is your Pharmacy Tech so much shorter than other schools?
Our Pharmacy Tech class is actually an Exam Preparation seminar. Our goal is to help you pass the exam. Other longer classes may be great but our seminar is designed for those who want a
How long is the class?
It’s 30 hours, but the schedule varies from location to location
Who teaches the class?
A pharmacist teaches the class.
Is there math involved?
Yes, a lot. It is basically 8th grade math. You do not have to be great in math to do this class. Your instructor will spend extra time reviewing it and even spend one-on-one time with you if you desire.
Will you be certified after this class?
You will take a national exam from PTCB. If you pass it, you will be nationally certified.
What exam will I take?
PTCB, which is the only exam the State of Texas recognizes.
If I fail the exam, can I take it again?
Yes. You have to wait 90 days and pay a $129 retesting fee.
Can I miss a class?
According to our policy, you can miss 1 class and still be enrolled. But seriously, if you pay $900 for the seminar, why would you want to miss a class? Going to class is the single best way you can prepare for the exam.
The class starts at 5 pm. Can I get there 15 minutes late?
No. If you are late 3 times, you will be removed from the class and not allowed to return. If you plan on being later, do not take the class.
